People of all ages and backgrounds flocked to the small Oak Forest store, eager to find the latest and greatest in surfing and skating gear and apparel. With its welcoming "come as you are" policy and the Sandels' generous contributions to the community, the Surfhouse soon became a beloved institution—one that has endured for over 50 years.

While the Surfhouse has faced challenges in recent years, including the passing of Lloyd in 2022 and shifting consumer habits, its spirit remains unwavering.
